RESOLUTION HONORING GLORIA J. THOMAS
RESOLUTION #03-106
WHEREAS, Gloria J. Thomas has served with compassion and distinction as a social work practitioner, administrator, and community activist for four decades; and
WHEREAS, she worked as an administrator with the Michigan Department of Social Services, including as an advocate for Michigan's foster children; and
WHEREAS, she retired from Sparrow Hospital's St. Lawrence Campus Geriatric Assessment Center in 2001, and currently works as a therapist for Merick and Associates, a Lansing agency that provides counseling services for older adults; and
WHEREAS, she now serves as East Lansing's Representative on the Tri-County Office on Aging Advisory Council, currently serving as chair; and
WHEREAS, she is the most recent recipient of the Harry J. Kelly Award, presented by the Michigan Society of Gerontology to the person who is an outstanding practitioner in the field of gerontology, has demonstrated leadership in supporting activities for older people on the local, state, or national level, and who exemplifies integrity and reliability in her profession.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners recognizes and thanks Gloria J. Thomas for her service to the young and old residents of Ingham County in need of a helping hand.
